The following conditions are considered debilitating as per the Montana Medical Marijuana Act and one of these conditions is a requirement under the law in order to obtain a medical marijuana program card. The list is not exclusive and does not list every possible condition that would render a patient eligible for a medical marijuana recommendation from an attending physician at CannaMedicine Physician Consultations.

The Montana Medical Marijuana Act and the DPHHS defines the following as qualifying conditions:

In order for persons to participate in the medical marijuana program, they must be diagnosed with a debilitating medical condition. A debilitating medical condition is defined as:

(a) cancer, glaucoma, or positive status for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), or the treatment of these conditions;

(b) a chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition or its treatment that produces one or more of the following:

(i) cachexia or wasting syndrome;

(ii) severe or chronic pain;

(iii) severe nausea;

(iv) seizures, including but not limited to those caused by epilepsy; or severe or persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to those caused by multiple sclerosis or Crohn's disease; or any other medical condition or treatment for a medical condition adopted by the department by rule. (NOTE: To date, the department has not added to the list by administrative rule.)

* cancer

* AIDS/HIV

* cachexia or wasting disease

* severe or chronic pain

* severe nausea

* glaucoma

* muscle spasms causes by Multiple Scherlosis

* Crohns disease

* Migraines

* Arthritis

* Joint pain

* Fibromyalgia

*  Back pain from things like degenerative disk disease, spinal fusion surgery, herniated disks, etc.

This is only a partial list of qualifying conditions that could be categorized as a chronic pain ailment for a patient.

All patients must have medical records showing a history of a chronic illness.   Chronic is defined as "lasting for a long period of time or marked by frequent recurrence".

Welcome to CannaMedicine Physician Consultations

CannaMedicine Physician Consultations was formed to address the overwhelming need for licensed physicians that are open minded enough to provide consultations to patients interested in medicinal cannabis for their debilitating condition.

The large majority of physicians in Montana, and many physicians in any of the other states with medical cannabis laws, are not willing to sign the state required "Attending Physicians Statement" that patients have to have to become legally able to possess limited amounts of cannabis for medicinal purposes. Their reasons for not signing range from their individual perception of cannabis as a medicine to their outright objection due to the legal issues that still remain at a Federal level.

The simple fact remains that the patients, the ones that truly matter in all this and any aspect of health care, are very much intrigued in cannabis as a medicine and therefore are willing to see past the grapevine perception that is associated with cannabis that stems from the outlandish propaganda that has been purported by our government over the last many decades. Patients need an legitimate outlet that will take them serious and listen to their history and determine if they qualify for the physicians recommendation as per the law. The definition of debilitating conditions contained with in the Montana Medical Marijuana Act is very clear and concise. There is no gray area or uncertain terrain. If you have HIV, you qualify... If you have chronic pain stemming from decades of migraine headaches, you qualify... If you blew out your knee skiing in 1997 and have had residual, chronic pain, you qualify.

The law does allow for the Department of Public Health & Human Services to amend to the list of debilitating conditions but they have not done so to date since the law was originally enacted in 2004.

We put patients in touch with physicians at their convenience state wide for medical cannabis consultations!
